Mosaic Program for 2024-2025 Kicks Off with Discussion on Election Season
On August 27, Mrs. Monifa Kelsey and Dr. Aldo Regalado, our DEI Coordinators, provided an overview of Mosaic. Mosaic is an inclusivity curriculum integrated into the Advisory program in grades 6th through 12th, which aims to raise awareness of and affirmation of identity by discussing diversity and inclusion.
Following this, Dr. Regalado delivered a powerful Kick-Off speech, discussing the importance of the election and how, at Palmer Trinity, our academic studies hold deeper meaning. He emphasized that we pursue truth not just for personal success but for a greater purpose. We seek truth to become global citizens who care for the world and one another, and to lead with love.
The goal of Mosaic is to promote the holistic safety of each individual in our educational community through a series of age-appropriate and relevant lesson plans that are co-created by both faculty and student leaders. Teams of advisors and student facilitators from our Diversity Peer Educator Program run these lessons. Discussion and reflection on topics promote a deeper understanding of the multiple dimensions of human diversity, foster a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity in our school community, and launch global citizens. The Mosaic scheduled for Tuesday (August 27th) was an all-school convocation designed to set the tone and introduce the program for 2024. Once the convo was done, we sent the students and advisors back to their classrooms, where they met their facilitators for the year. Our first lesson is scheduled for September.
